ABOUT US
Our
Mission
To produce quality puppies that are healthy and confident.
To strive to improve the German Shepherd in South Africa.

We are a small suburban kennel producing quality - good looks, health and temperament. As family dogs, our dogs spend days in the garden and evenings inside with us. They do not live in concrete runs. Our puppies are raised by us, not staff, and always with family involvement. We know each one's character, are able to deal with any problems immediately to produce well rounded, healthy, confident puppies.
Because we raise our puppies we are always aware of every one - and each has unique and individual qualities. When you visit us, we get to know you and can usually identify which puppy will be right for you. However your choice of puppy is always yours to make.

Our
Story
A brief history...
We first bought a Kusa registered German Shepherd male, Sabre (Spectra Exkalibur) in 1990, followed by a female, Shani (Schlitza of Zagroshill), in 1992. We joined Midrand GSD Club to train, and got coerced by a friend to enter a show with her. Our girl came last but then we entered another show. And the bug bit. We registered Sharyleigh with the German Shepherd Dog Federation of South Africa in 1996, and bred our first litter to a newly imported Jeck v Noricum son. Since those early times, the German Shepherd Dog has become our passion and hobby. Our dogs are our pets first and foremost. We train and show them. Breeding has been a natural follow-on to improve on each generation.
After showing a little we decided to import. In the late 90s, the most wonderful 5 year old, Xado van de Mauritshoek. Then puppy Zita van de Mauritshoek, an amazing female. We purchased Xado's best daughter in SA, Quanta of Nasrudin, and together with Zita, they formed the backbone of our kennel. Zita was Siegerin in 2003 & 2004, while Quanta was Vice Siegerin in 2003 & 2004. We imported a couple more puppies from Holland, Wega and Xavi, from the Mauritshoek kennel again, each time bringing in new bloodlines.
Hunter von Batu arrived in 2012. A son of our all time favourite, Double German Sieger, Vegas du Haut Mansard. Hunter produced some awesome sons and daughters, 8 South African VAs in total. Two of these held the highest positions possible: Sieger, Matrix of Kinneret, and our beauty, Siegerin, Electra of Sharyleigh. He was South Africa's top producing German Shepherd Dog from 2011-2015, and called "The Producing Machine" by the late Herr Rudiger Mai.
From Hunter we kept back Electra (Hunter v Batu/Olga Sharyleigh) and Hazel (Hunter v Batu/Xambi Sharyleigh), who produced so well. Electra gave us Qarma 9 (double VA2) and Hazel gave us Venus, both daughters of Lexus BierstadterHof. Venus although not a VA, produced Kenzi and Tosca. Kenzi gave us Siegerin 2025 Babushka and Tosca gave us VA5 Devereaux, both daughters of Viano Messebau.
With our dam lines to various stud dogs, we managed to gain top show positions and always with excellent protection work at Nationals.

In addition Sharyleigh has obtained 4 bitework awards at Nationals: Pepper, Venus, Demi and Babushka, who performed the best protection work overall in 2025. Temperament is extremely important to us. A German Shepherd is a working dog.
In 2018 we obtained the prestigious Diamond Breeders Medal and won the Kennel group at Nationals, with a 5-5 combination. The following year we won the Best Kennel Group again, with a 5-5 combination, the most difficult to achieve.
Our last import is Xavi vom Geixenhof. With superb bloodlines and temperament, he is already producing for our's and other's kennel. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather have all been double Siegers in Germany. A superb sire line!!!
Xavi - Mio v Team Huhnegrab - Usher ad Brunnenstrasse - Willy Kuckucksland. His lines and type compliment all our females. And the temperaments of his puppies are outstanding. We are so proud of this boy.
